I also had to take a trip over to Wicker Park to check out the Sidewalk Sale. I love this sale! I usually find great bargains. But this year, my two favorite stores opened up their sales early, so everything was really picked through already. Just thinking about it makes me sad all over again, but I will live to shop another day. I think I need a bon-bon now.

Southport Children's Festival and Wicker Park Sidewalk Sale
We live just off the Southport Corridor, so around the corner on the weekend of July 28th was the Southport Children's Festival! They had music, games, even camel rides! We got to see Justin Roberts perform again, but this time up close and personal. These neighborhood festivals are great because they give you an opportunity to interact with the singers and get a spot close to the action. You can actually see who is singing! The kids can all dance around in front and talk to the performers if they are brave enough. Maddie got a little bit brave and went up front to dance with the other kids. Some other kids were yelling, "Hey Justin!" so he started chatting with them. He said Hi to Maddie and talked to her for a little bit and then played her favorite song for her, "Nine Planets." He was cute about it. He started off talking about how this was a great song that the scientists ruined. He started singing, "There are 8 planets in the solar system", and received a resounding boo from the crowd. Maddie was over the moon! He also sang his other space songs, "Backyard Spaceship" and "Rocket Ship." Of course we love Justin, he sings about space.
