The Storms of Summer

On August 22nd, we had big storms throughout the city. Our neighborhood was hit pretty bad. The kids and I were watching out the door at the crazy rain and wind when the power lines exploded and the lights went out. After the storm let up a little, we looked outside to see the house two doors down had major damage in the front and back. A huge tree had uprooted and fallen into the house in front. Another huge tree fell down in the backyard, breaking down fences, etc. Two doors furthur had large trees down and blocking the alleyway. There were a lot of trees and branches down throughout the area. People had to move them out of the street to be able to get their cars home! I was so glad that we were not driving when this was happening! Our power came back the next day, and our building was not damaged, so we were lucky! Maddie and Max were brave. They went and found all their toys that light up so to help with the black-out. They found their binoculars and were peeking out the windows to see what was going on. I could tell Maddie was a little jumpy though. She went and drew a picture of the powere line explosion she saw, and that made her feel a little better.
